In Search of the Maternity Leggings? The Best We Found in New Zealand

We consider a good pair of black leggings to be one of the most important items in a pregnant women’s wardrobe. A pair that washes well, looks great, and fits you (and your bump) throughout your pregnancy and beyond. We’ve done the research to find the best maternity leggings on the market, and here are our top picks.

Aimin

Another pair that will take you from your first, to third trimester and beyond, Aimin know the way to our hearts with their ultra-supportive signature fabric which is oh so comfortable, never see through and washes well.

Hotmilk

We love these 7/8 leggings from Hotmilk, which have a full height comfort waist panel that can be worn right over the fullest bump, a post pregnancy belly, or folded down for the ultimate support postpartum. And for our c-section māmā, the placement of seams for c-section scars means zero irritation which in our opinion is reason alone to buy these leggings.

Lorna Jane

We LOVE the Lorna Jane maternity range – you really can’t go wrong with any of their leggings, so to mix things up we also think you should check out these bike shorts! They are the absolute best. The wide waistband feels supportive around your belly, without feeling restrictive. There’s plenty of give in them, they’re comfortable and they wash well. We found we could wear them all the way up to 40 weeks, and then basically lived in them postpartum too. 10/10

Cotton On

We love that Cotton On has released a range of well-priced maternity clothing, including an epic selection of work out gear. They have a variety of maternity leggings, but these ones are our favourite! They are comfy, supportive around your belly and look great too.

Go Mama

We love how these leggings feel – they’re supportive and comfortable… and they have POCKETS. The waistband can be folded down for extra support and they’re perfect for postpartum too. Also, did we mention they have pockets?!

Postie Plus

While these aren’t maternity leggings, they’re SUPER comfortable with a nice high waist. They are perfect for the first and second trimester (depending on how big your bump is). And then put them aside for postpartum. We reckon you’ll never want to take them off. They’re also very well priced, which is great if you – like us – are keeping to a tight budget in the lead up to your maternity leave.
