Health Conditions in Pregnancy: High Blood Pressure
All pregnant people have their blood pressure monitored regularly by their LMC at antenatal check-ups, but if you have a pre-existing hypertensive condition, you will be monitored more carefully. It’s important that your blood pressure doesn’t rise even more during pregnancy as an increase could put you and your baby at greater risk. Some medications for high blood pressure are not safe during pregnancy so if you need to change your treatment your doctor will discuss this with you.
