Your Pregnancy: Week 24

Mum holds baby shoes up to pregnant belly

Your pēpi has taste buds now!

The length of your baby is around 31cm by week 24 and they weigh about 600 grams. Your baby now has taste buds. Their lungs have begun developing to breathe air but they aren’t ready for the outside world just yet.

As your belly grows, your centre of gravity shifts so be careful if you start to feel off balance or a little clumsier than usual. Some pregnant people also experience nosebleeds as a result of congestion and increased blood volume. If you’re worried about this pregnancy symptom or any other discomforts, let your LMC or GP know. The Ministry of Health have a list of danger signs in pregnancy which you can read here.
