Is Your Newborn’s Dry Skin Peeling?
Why’s it peeling?
Some babies develop dry, cracked skin after birth, especially if they were born overdue. It’s very common to notice it peeling and flaking off in the first few months as they gradually adjust to their new environment – soon it will become soft and smooth.
You don’t need to do anything to help the peeling and you certainly don’t need to bathe your baby every day. Using soaps or baby body wash may dry their skin even more, so you only need to wash your pēpi with water. After a bath, pat them dry and if you like, you can gently apply some natural baby oil which can help to keep their skin supple.
